My aunt died at three years old in 1926 due to polio.

I’ve lost relatives to the polio virus. However I’ve never had polio, rubella, rubeola, mumps or measles and I don’t know anyone personally that’s had any of these. We regularly get tetanus shots. Have you worried about smallpox, diphtheria, or pertussis? Devastating diseases that killed and maimed millions of children per year until the mid 20th century. Flu shots are an annual thing for many. All of these are virus.

Why do families average around 2 kids now instead of 5 to 10 as they did in the early 1900’s? My mother had six siblings. I had two. Because vaccination helped reduce child mortality around the world. Parents no longer have as much worry that their children won’t make it to adulthood. It must have been devastating to bear 10 children during one’s life only to have 3 make it to 15 years of age.

We don’t vaccinate against cold because it’s caused by many viruses.

The United States had over a million extra deaths because of our lackluster response to the COVID threat. Over a million people died because they got sick because they didn’t get vaccinated. We know this because we can compare what happened in other nations with better health care.

Those denying these things are the reason the United States is the only modern nation with a falling life expectancy.

But you do you, just don’t deny facts. None of us alive predate vaccination, which has its beginnings with smallpox in 1796.
