The whole point of the union is to give the workers a voice and attempt to level the playing field. We currently have business showing millions, in some cases billions, in profits while some companies don’t pay their employees enough to live.
In this case, the UAW agreed to concessions because of the pandemic. At least the three auto manufacturers have recovered but no return of the concessions. The big three are bringing in billions in profits and those who make the products they sell should benefit as well.
That’s the whole point of negotiation. No one wants the business to go fail. If they fail, hasn’t the union defeated its own purpose? Anyone arguing that is just dumb.
Both parties should work together as partners to make sure everyone continues to prosper.
