Gov JB Pritzker Threatens to Prosecute all Trump Administration

In an interview with The Daily podcast, Governor JB Pritzker (Illinois) was asked what a “Project 2029” agenda would look like for Democrats. His answer was direct.

“We’ve got to restore the rule of law, and that means holding people accountable who’ve broken the law,” Pritzker said. “I’m talking about in this administration. When we get a new one, the people in this administration who’ve broken the law and federal agents who’ve broken the law need to be held accountable. And that means criminally prosecuted, criminally prosecuted, civilly prosecuted, whatever it is that we can do. It may be that you can’t criminally prosecuted somebody, but that you can go after them civilly.”

I’ll believe it when I see it.

I’ve been voting since 1981. I’ve watched as the democrats promise and under deliver. I’ve watched as the republicans destroyed our economy and/or sent us into recession. Then the democrats rebuild. Hell, Clinton had a budget surplus. Something modern republicans have never had. Then Bush gets us into an unending war, fulfilling the prophecy spoken by President Eisenhower. “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.”

We have fallen to the Military Industrial Complex and the unfettered capitalism that allows such a beast. We have enough to spend more than the next 10 nations on our military, but we don’t have enough to pay for healthcare. Something every one of our allies and several of our enemies provide for their citizens. Oh, and those nations we are outspending? Most of them are our allies too.

My point is, there has been a great deal of talk of what our government does. Almost none of the money they spend on our behalf is spent on the nation. Not to make our lives easier, which is part of “providing for the general welfare,” but they don’t spend enough on this nation to keep us where we were 30 years ago.

So, color me unconvinced. I will believe the government of this nation is doing the work of the people when I see it. At this point, it won’t be in what is left of my life.
