Law is Not the Answer: Equality, Respect, and Inclusivity are the Key
Outlawing homosexuality does not eliminate homosexuality. There always have been and always will be homosexuals.
Eliminating care for transgender individuals will not make them go away. It will cause more suicide, drug addiction, and a host of ills. Doctors must be the ones to decide medical procedures, not politicians.
Outlawing abortion does not stop abortion. It will cause women to seek healthcare from unqualified and untrained people who are capitalizing on others suffering. Desperate people will do things they would not otherwise do. If one does not have autonomy over their own body, no other rights matter. If one of us loses any rights at all, we are all poorer for the loss.
Outlawing certain books does not eliminate the knowledge or story being told. Supporting banning books is the act of an uneducated person or persons.
When one ignores part of history, it makes us all worse off. BIPOC and LGBTQ+ history is American history too. The Tulsa race riots happened. The Stonewall riot occurred. Ignoring the historical contributions of BIPOC and indigenous people is racist.
Kneeling for the pledge is respectful.
Not reciting the pledge of allegiance with a group does not mean one hates America. It means they are independent and know they do not have to prove their patriotism. Only in a dictatorship can one be required to pledge their allegiance. In a free country, pledging is completely voluntary. If it’s not, then this is not a free country. If you support laws like this, you are being tyrannical.
When laws are passed to stop someone from dressing as they wish, we all lose. If you agree with these laws, you are being oppressive. How someone else dresses is none of your concern.
When one group of people receives different treatment from other groups, one of those groups is privileged.
Christians are not oppressed. The fact you are now aware there are other religions is not oppression. Being inclusive of different beliefs and lifestyles is not causing you harm. The United States is not a Christian nation, and it was not founded with Christian ideals in mind. That was the entire point of leaving Europe. They were leaving a theocracy. Don’t try to create another one.
