I believe I have experienced a much diminished level of this effect. The first time being the first time I saw, “The Blue Marble” or “Earthrise.”
Both photos evoke very strong emotions in most people. I can’t imagine a mentally stable person not being moved. I don’t believe there’s ever been an image that more clearly reflects exactly how minute every living creature we know of actually is.
Yet, for almost all of the existence of hominids, we’ve spent our short lifespans destroying each other and the only planet we know of that can support us. We’re doing this so well it’s causing harm to other species.
We shouldn’t be concerned with borders. Just like race, it’s made up, arbitrary, and only has one purpose. To rile up and distract the masses from the oppression they endure from the elites. Just like our southern border, the elites are exaggerating the problems so people will be distracted from the oppression, at the same time tge elites tell the masses, “Those people will take what you have.” All the while they are taking advantage of the masses. But you are too distracted to notice.
In any case, we are only one world. A very small world with the right amounts of enough elements that life sprang forth.
But we spend our 6 to 10 decades out of 4.5 billion years killing each other so the Koch brothers can make another million tomorrow.
