While I agree that it is patently obvious to me that Trump is guilty, I also firmly agree that the court of public opinion is not the standard we hold people to.
If this is what we use to decide who we will vote for “personally”, that’s fine and how our system was designed.
We cannot use that standard in a legal or procedural sense. If we do that, we are lowering our standards to that of any other nation that kills perpetrators of failed coup attempts.
This is exactly why his defense is so bogus.
He’s not being denied his rights. He is actually being guaranteed his rights because this is going through the courts.
A country without the same protections would just execute him out of hand, without any due process.
